KU’s Off-Campus Advisory Council (OCAC) will hold its second annual community Block Party on Sunday April 26. Block Party, located on Main Street between Whiteoak and Noble Streets, is free and open to the public from 12 p.m. – 6 p.m.

Kutztown University Radio, along with local bands Jumbo Maverick, Sound Judgment and Welcome to Earf will provide entertainment for the event. Other performances by Black Flame, KU Breakers, and Chi Sigma Upsilon will occur during the event.

“We have over 100 volunteers from the community and university helping to set up. It is truly a team effort,” OCAC Off Campus Student Life Coordinator Meghan Godorov said.

Sixty-seven local businesses and student organizations will be on hand to educate the community about their products and services. Highlights of the event will include an America Reads Kids Corner, “Balloon Man on Campus,” a drum circle run by KUs Dr. Francis Kumor, face painting stations, tye-dying T-shirts sponsored by OCAC, and giveaways. The Bark on Main will host a “Spring Bling Doggie Dress Up Contest and Strut.”
Food from CC’s Wooden Grille, soda from Kutztown Bottling works, and Subway cookies will be available at the event. A shootout with the KU Roller Hockey team and demonstrations with the Fencing Club will occur throughout the day.

“This is a community event for all to partake in. It’s a chance to be spirited about Kutztown and celebrate spring and the end of a fantastic academic year,” Godorov said.

The OCAC is still taking volunteers for the event. For more information visit the Community Outreach Center in the McFarland Student Union Building, room 281.
