Repent America postpones campus tour

Repent America (RA), an evangelistic organization dedicated to spreading its message through open air preaching, postponed its tour date to KU.

Director of RA, Michael Marcavage, said in an interview Tuesday that “core participants were unable to meet on the preemptive dates, and there were also personal reasons for the postponement.” One of the personal reasons mentioned by Marcavage is that he is currently working to appeal the United States of America vs. Michael A. Marcavage case on June 13, 2008 where Marcavage was found guilty.

The appeal follows the ruling of U.S. Magistrate Judge Arnold C. Rapoport, who found Marcavage guilty for continuing to preach on public property to those waiting in line to see the Liberty Bell. It was here Marcavage attempted to “spread the word of God” and also preach against abortion.

Supervising park ranger Alan Saperstein redirected Marcavage to a free speech zone, located away from the entrance and exit of the Liberty Bell Center. Marcavage refused to relocate and was later cited for violating the Code of Federal Regulations, which stated that he was interfering with agency functions by preaching and ministering to people on the public sidewalk.

Marcavage also said that while RA considered stopping at Kutztown between Sept. 28 and Oct. 9, the university was not a predetermined target for the college tour.

“We decided to tour through the western part of Pennsylvania,” said Marcavage, “because we had not been there before.”

RA is considering visiting KU’s campus in the spring, however. When asked for an exact date Marcavage replied, “When we come, you’ll know.”

RA members believe it is their duty as Christians to spread the Gospel, and help as many people as they can repent for their sins, so that they too may enter Heaven. While Marcavage acknowledges this message may not always be well received, he and his organization are determined to spread their message to as many people as possible.

    No I don't know and you should not infer that I do. I have never had a "drag queen" chase me around campus or yell in a microphone at me trying to "convince me to repent to their ideas of religion". Nor have I had to have intervention with any "drag queens" with umbrellas. Get rid of the microphones, tasteless signs, and address only those who are interested in what you have to say....then there wouldn't be a problem.

    By what standard do you judge Repent America.You don't want them to compare sinners up against God's Holy standard (the 10 commandments)....but yet you turn around and judge RA. How so......aren't you being a little hypocritical? What about a university being a collection of ideas?

    Maybe it would be best for you to just see yourself the way God see you Melissa Lee.....your problem and the problem of those cross dressing professors on Campus is with the God of the Holy Bible and not the members of Repent America.

    The collection of ideas on a University is for paying students and professors. Not for outside groups to come in and tell students how they are going to hell unless they "repent". I think God already had a spokesman on Earth, his son Jesus Christ. Unless of course Repent America knows something that the rest of the free world does not.

    BTW where in the 10 commandments does it say professors can't cross dress (I've been on campus 3 years and haven't seen that) and where does it say Repent America speaks for me-God. Just wondering

    The entire campus is a free speech zone. KU is state owned University and anyone including, students, cross dressing professors, visitors, or any other member of the general public can come here and say what they want.



    The message has been pubically defined several times as being to, "repent and believe." Yes, there is a hell...the message is not that you're going there...but that there is a danger and a reality of Hell. Those that do not believe are condemned and will face that reality. As a Christian I don't want you to go there.



    Cross dressers break the 10 commandments at these two points: 1) You shall not commit adultery and 2) you shall have no other gods before me. The Bible is very clear that anyone who breaks one commandment breaks them all. We are all without excuse. We need a Savior.....



    Lastly, RA doesn't follow people around or do any of those things that are depicted of them.....the stand and preach. The Bible says blessed is he (or she) who is found not to be offended in me. Jesus Christ is synonymous with the Word of God...(John 1). The message of Jesus was and is to, "repent and believe"....look it up yourself..the Church (the body of believers) has been given commandments by Christ to preach this message to everyone regardless if they want to hear it our not. I'll pray for you all that you won't be found offended in this message (or in Christ) when its pubically preached at KU again this spring.



    What I believe to be a sticking point for the people at KU is that they must repent..turn to God and stop sinning in order to be saved. This is true for all people.....we can't live for ourselves and claim with assurance to be a Christian. Unfortunately, for many people this concept works in them a rage.......but Jesus's own words were, "unless you repent...you will all likewise perish".

    The campus though state owned is private property and I believe anyone that wishes to have an organized group must have a permit or some permission from the university. As far as free speech.....go use the N word, call someone a F@ggot, use other hate speech. See how far your claim to free speech with get. Repent America targets people who in their opinion are sinner. Do you think RA is in a better position to decide who is a sinner than God?

    You probably need to get more familiar with the definitions-even the biblical definition of adultery because cross dressing has nothing to do with it. Nor does cross dressing have any worship of another God-nor does it even suggest the denial of God. You can not pass judgment on someone due to the clothes they wear.

    I'm not at all offending in the message that Jesus Christ gives me. But why does RA think they know the message better than me? Jesus Christ is my savior and I tell people about it, but I do not preach hate speech to those whose lifestyles I do not agree with. If you think RA just stands there and preaches, you need to come and look at them. Them preach hate speech intertwined with their so called word of God.

    Who is to say people at KU need to repent? You can't name any commandments that they have broken....so why do they need to repent, in your opinion? RA preaches hate speech-that is not covered by freedom of speech.

    I certainly disagree that RA preaches hate speech. With all the dozens of video cameras that record them when they are here...can you please provide me of the evidence so I can decide for myself? Even the court threw out the case against them as being 'without' merit. For a sake of argument even hate speech is protected in the United States.



    Jesus said in His own words that those who look at one and other in lust commit adultery. Also, a person who does not do the will of God lives for self (little god) and is not surrendered to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.



    The Bible says to judge righteous judgement....a spiritual man is to judge everything. It also says God will judge the effeminate...and so on. Yes, I can judge a person by what they do .I'm not condemning them...but I can say...this or that is sin.



    What is the message that Jesus Christ gives you...what is the chapter and verse and how do the verses about love reconcile with the verses about God's wrath, judgement and distain for sinners? How and when did you become a Christian?



    The way the kingdom of God is advanced is to stand up pubically and proclaim the law of God. So people can see their need for a Savior and repent. One can only assume, by the offence to the law of God that most at KU are not saved. They blatantly belie the Word.....would a saved person do that? The KU crowd believes very falsely that God will accept them in their sin...He will not.

    by the way....RA is anti abortion...has nothing to do with any other sins... I've searched the internet and only found about ten minutes of footage. Where are these thousands of hours? I guess you'll find some way to tie cross dressing to abortion and adultery. That is your MO.

    I"m not sure how you are melding cross dressing with lust? How do you connect the two? Or more importantly, why are you connecting the two. It seems you have some unfounded prejudices. How do you explain that as a Christian?

    So you are saying dressing in a certain way is a sin? What do you base that judgment on? Your opinion of someone should not determine whether or not they are a sinner-or at sinning. It should be actions. Can you not see the difference?

    The message that Jesus Christ gives me is personal to me. I need not quote a chapter and a verse, because he doesn't speak to me in chapters and verses....and I don't pray to him quoting chapters and verses. I think doing so shows a lack of a relationship with accepting Christ as your savior. I'm confident in my relationship with Him. I need not justifying by quoting chapters and verses.

    How can you assume that most at KU are not saved? What do you base that assumption on? But then again....I guess assumptions are based on facts-that's why they are assumptions.

    It's very apparent that you are a non thinking Christian. You mindlessly quote verses that you think explain your position, but they do not. You should at the very least have a good understanding of what you are quoting. Just quoting really doesn't make you sound very enlightened.
