Shut up, Dick

OK, so the time has finally come for every single American to shout at Dick Cheney to shut the hell up. Excuse me for the profanity, but it seems implausible to me, as it should to everyone else, that Cheney still considers himself relevant after the mess that he and W. got us into in the first place.

For the last year since President Obama has been in office, Cheney has done nothing but complain and criticize Obama’s administration on security issues, and of course, criticize what is now known as Obama’s war in Afghanistan.

Recently, Cheney was quoted as saying that Obama “is trying to pretend that we are not at war.” Cheney made this remark in response to the failed attempt by the underwear bomber, who was thwarted before he accomplished his deed on Christmas day. Not that I want to be mistaken, the attempt clearly shows that Al- Qaida still present a clear and ever-present danger to the safety of America and its citizens. But for Cheney to blatantly state such a stupid statement shows he is ignorant, or dumb enough to believe that Obama is playing softball with these guys.

It seems that he has selective memory. Had it not been for the digression of the Bush administration to divert our attention from the “real” terrorists in Yemen, Afghanistan, Pakistan, and Syria; and not Iraq, which by the way had no presence of Al-Qaida in it before we invaded it in 2003. A country that subsequently had no involvement with 9/11 was deemed more important to our national security than the safe-haven for terrorists we knew about in the aforementioned countries.

In fact, the invasion of Iraq so diverted our efforts to combat these extremists, that according to a recent New York Times article, “A Different Kind of War,” written by our own Army historians states the Pentagon wanted to maintain a “small” footprint in Afghanistan because Iraq was drawing away resources. The report further explains: “Much of the [Afghanistan] country remained vulnerable to enemy forces willing to reassert their power.”

When we had the opportunity to hit back hard and focus our attention on capturing Osama bin Laden, the mastermind behind 9/11, in Afghanistan, we let that all slip away when Dick Cheney and George Bush decided to lie to Americans (and the world) about Iraq’s weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) that they had somewhere either underground, or up their asses somewhere.

We all know now that no WMD’s were ever found in Iraq, and what was supposed to be a three-month take over of Iraq, turned into an almost nine year war, wherein thousands of U.S. soldiers died. For what reason again?

Let us not forget that Cheney also supported and still publicly supports the Bush administration’s uses of “enhanced interrogative techniques,” or what I like to call torture. You know, having buckets of water dropped on your head to cause the sensation of drowning, while you are tied down and can’t move (water boarding), or better yet, forcing you to strip naked and then stay isolated for hours and hours. That precious sleep that we all look forward to. Forget that! How about being forced to stay awake for days at a time, driving you to the brink of insanity? These are just some of the “techniques” that our own U.S. interrogators used on “supposed” terrorists across the world.

And even after all this, Dick Cheney still thinks he has something important to say to me? Hell no! I thank Obama for not making the same mistakes the Bush administration made in rushing to war, and is clearly ‘thinking’ through this war, now that the Iraq occupation is coming to a close. Obama has been the captain of the ship for a year already, yet Americans are constantly reminded of the past every time Cheney decides he wants to open his mouth. Well, here is a message to you Mr. Cheney: Shut the hell up. No one cares about your criticism or even if you are still alive. What you need to do is disappear like good ole W. and please never come back.

Could you point out to me a reputable news organization that says the US found WMD's in Iraq?
